Regional Chapters and National Nodes
Regional Chapters
Regional Chapters are local branches of the AI4LAM community that operate at a regional level (e.g., Europe, Asia‑Pacific, North America) or engage community members around language‑specific needs. These chapters align with AI4LAM’s goal of reaching smaller institutions and forming regional networks, and they serve as ambassadors for positive digital transformation across the field.
Their purpose:
- Strengthen collaboration among institutions within a geographic region.
- Adapt AI4LAM’s global mission to local needs, languages, and infrastructures.
- Reach smaller institutions that may not have the capacity to participate globally.
- Organize region-specific events, training, and working groups.
Operational Chapters
In accord with the long-held tradition of practical, exuberant and collaborative Trans-Tasman relations, the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand chapter of AI4LAM is founded to create a regional network for professionals, artists and scholars working with AI in the cultural heritage sector. Established as a community of practice and critical reflection for Australian and New Zealand, AI4LAM will encourage discussion and knowledge transfer around how AI may shape users’ information practices and expectations in cultural heritage institutions and clients.
This chapter aims at extending and strengthening the principles of the AI4LAM community (creating a space for dialogue, information, and sharing of skills within which professionals from various institutions and sectors come together) by taking an interest in the specific issues of the French-speaking community within GLAMs.
The District of Columbia, Maryland and northern Virginia region, known locally as the DMV, is home to the United States Federal Government, hundreds of national and specialist museums, archives, galleries and libraries, numerous historic sites and cultural spaces, and several top research universities. A DMV AI4lAM chapter is a venue to bring together professionals and communities with overlapping interests,
challenges and opportunities in implementing AI in their contexts.
National Nodes
National Nodes are country-level hubs within the AI4LAM network.
Their purpose:
- Coordinate AI4LAM activities within a single country.
- Connect national libraries, archives, museums, and research institutions to support national-level collaboration.
- Serve as a point of contact for national initiatives, funding, and policy discussions.
