Getty has joined the Al4LAM as a Founding Member, marking a significant milestone in global efforts to advance responsible and innovative uses of artificial intelligence in the cultural heritage sector.

AI4LAM is delighted to welcome Getty as its Founding Member. Getty is a leading international arts organization dedicated to exhibiting, conserving, and deepening understanding of the world’s artistic and cultural heritage.
Through its four programs, including the Getty Museum, Research Institute, Conservation Institute, and Foundation, Getty plays a central role in shaping global approaches to cultural stewardship, scholarship, and public access.
Getty brings to Al4LAM a strong commitment to computational approaches to cultural heritage, integrating its world-class collections, conservation science and digital infrastructure with modern data science and open research practices. The organization is actively exploring how Al and machine learning can expand public access to archival
collections, enhance provenance research and support innovation in conservation science.
Getty is also at the forefront of research at the intersection of technical imaging and machine-learning technologies, opening new possibilities for the analysis and interpretation of visual culture. This expertise will significantly enrich Al4LAM’s collaborative work and
strengthen the organization’s capacity to support responsible, transparent, and community-driven Al practices across the LAM sector.
According to Ines Vodopivec, Secretary General of Al4LAM, Getty’s leadership, expertise, and long-standing commitment to open, research-driven innovation will be invaluable as we work together to shape the future of Al for cultural heritage. Their participation further strengthens the international collaboration at the core of the Al4LAM community and reflects a shared commitment to advancing responsible and innovative applications of Al across libraries, archives, and museums.
